Listing Information
Elegantly designed by one of the most prominent names in silversmithing, this exceptional silver centerpiece by Paul Storr is perhaps the finest single candelabrum ever made by the famed silversmith. Profusely cast and chased with a blend of neoclassical and Rococo Revival elements, this work of art features exquisite harvest motifs that are perfectly suited to the dining table. Shell, scroll and acanthus ornaments drape the piece, while incredibly detailed lion heads grace the feet of this astonishing specimen of English silver.

As remarkable in construction as it is in design, the elaborate seven-light candelabrum top detaches from the base, and can be replaced by its matching Paul Storr silver bowl. Beautifully formed with a stunning leaf motif, the bowl is engraved "Presented pursuant to the Resolution of a public meeting held at the City of London Tavern on the 27th July 1833 to Charles Napier Count and Viscount of Cabo de San Vincente &c. &c. &c."

Revered among history's finest silversmiths, Storr is credited with perfecting the works, styles and designs of the Regency period. His legacy is a remarkable body of work that spans over several stylistic periods with far-reaching influences. From his neoclassical masterpieces to his exuberant, Rococo Revival vessels, Storr imparted a level of craftsmanship and superior quality that has seldom been matched since.
