Very Decorative carved wooden sculpture of a Log Wood Carrier. Made in the Alsace Region in France. Can be dated around early to mid 20th Century.
A perfect wood log holder for your rustic fireplace !
The man is of carved wood, fitted in parts as you can see in the details of, for example the hands. The right hand has a crack, and the finger parts of both hands have been re-attached. We have a very good restorer for wood, who can make this look better and less visible.
His hat also misses a piece, but I think that this adds to the ruggedness of his appearance and the roughness of the wood carving.
