Circle of Antonio Francesco Peruzzini
(1643 - 1724)
River Landscape with Figures Second

Half of the Seventeenth Century
Oil on Canvas
(cm.) 80 x 56
framed 91 x 68

The proposed table shows a view of a shortened forest, with large trees crossed by a stream, on the edges of which remain for some travelers to drink.

It is a well-attested model of landscape painting, with stylistic characteristics of the Veneto region, referring to the late seventeenth century, namely close to painting by Antonio Francesco Peruzzini (Ancona, 1643 - Milan, 1724).

Active for most of his career in northern Italy (in Veneto around the 80s / 90s of the 17th century) specialized with great originality in the representation of a wild and poetically imaginary nature.

Drawing on the great tradition of the Venetian landscape of the sixteenth century by Titian, then by the paintings of Salvator Rosa, Peruzzini used brighter range of colors, vivid and brilliant, brightening touch and enter into a kind of movement and vitality in his paintings.

These features, which are well inferred in the canvas under consideration, they point to delimit the attributive field to a painter's nearest circle.

Condition of the object: The painting, dating from the last decades of the seventeenth century, is in excellent condition, and always appears in the first painting. Antique frame, carved and gilded.

The painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity (FIMA - CINOA)
