Regency Stick Barometer in a beautifully figured flame mahogany case with satinwood stringing and boxwood inlay. Rectangular cistern cover, paper register plate with two sliders with brass pointers, one for the mercury barometer tube, the other for the spirit thermometer signed C.Howorth, Halifax. C.1825

‘Barometer makers and retailers’ by Edwin Banfield lists Charles Howorth as working in Halifax from 1823-1852. He was a prolific maker of stick and angle barometers with paper plates.
