A pair of fine Worcester plate with shaped rim, painted in the London atelier of James Giles with the Lady Mary Wortley Montagu pattern of three large panels of exotic birds surrounding a circular central panel of flowers reserved on a blue scale ground within latticework and flowers in cisele gilding.

This is one of the rarest versions of this pattern. Gerald Coke identified seven versions of the Lady Mary Wortley Montagu pattern and has listed them, In Search of James Giles, p.164.
