Dutch delft blue and white plate, circa 1700, decorated in the Chinese transitional style, with the 'Lion of Juda' in a garden landscape in the centre, the cavetto with stylized foliate sprays, border with alternating Kraak style panels containing a figure seated in a landscape and stylized Dutch flowers (possibly tulips)
large crack that spreads across plate
The border is unique in that it combines Kraak style panels with transitional motifs. A German faience dish with this design can be found in the National Trust (Canons Ashby) Collection, NT 494294.
