Wyllie was a prolific English painter of maritime themes in engravings, oils and watercolours. He was widely regarded in the late 19th and early 20th century as the greatest marine artist of his day. His work resides in many of the world's finest galleries including the Tate, Royal Academy, the Imperial War Museum, the National Maritime Museum. and many other institutions around the world. This engraving is signed in pencil by the artist to the bottom right corner.
The engraving is signed in the margin and retained in its original card mount, further inscribed in pencil on the reverse of the mount with what is possibly the artist's stock/reference number. The card mount has been overlaid with a later modern card mount and re-framed. The print and mount are slightly yelowed, but a good strike. No other obvious issues.
