It is said that Deborah Jones started to draw as soon as she could pick up a pencil and that she had a natural talent. When still young she moved to London and lived with friends from the International Ballet Company, which brought her into the world of the Theatre. Initially she made a living by painting friends and characters from the theatre but she was soon employed in designing and painting sets for the Royal Opera House and for a time worked as Oliver Messel's Assistant. She worked for television & film, Glyndebourne Opera, Edinburgh International Festival and for a season worked at Stratford. It was only during the 1950s that she started to paint for exhibition and one such exhibition in 1957 at Liberty's in London established her reputation as a painter. In a 1975 exhibition in London, all of the works were purchased on the first day by the actor Cary Grant, some of which he passed onto Hollywood friends such as Frank Sinatra. She mainly concentrated on painting old shop fronts, probably imaginary, and nursery interiors. She died in 2012.
