A French gilt brass four glass mantel clock dating to the mid 19th Century. It has a traditional two door case that has thick bevel edge glass all around, a two piece enamel dial with a cast bezel, with a visible Brocot escapement, and is signed by the maker, Barrard and Vignon of Paris. It has a compensating mercury filled pendulum. The 8 day movement strikes the hours and halves on a bell.
The gilt case is in good origianl condition. The front glass is perfect, both sides have corner chipping and the back door has base chipping, as in the photographs (Each glass panel can be replaced @ a cost of £90 per panel). If you would like to receive a video clip of this clock ticking and striking please email us.
