She wears a fur trimmed blue dress and lace veil over upswept powdered hair
In Gilt-metal brooch mounted frame with blue enamel decorative border

This is in excellent condition and unlike many of Meyer's miniatures, this piece has not faded.
In 1764 Meyer was appointed Painter in Miniatures to Queen Charlotte, Painter in Enamels to King George III and was one of the founder members of the Royal Academy. Many of Meyer's contemporaries such as Samuel Finney and Gervase Spencer began work in watercolour on ivory and only later turned to enamels as the popularity of enamelists like Zincke's work grew. Meyer's background was originally in enamel, having paid £400 in tuition fees and materials to Zincke.
