A pair of mid 19th century framed painted panels of highly decorative still-lifes depicting a variety of flowers and fruits emerging from closely observed woven baskets set on pedestals, one with a dove, all against a dark green backdrop.

Oil on canvas
The influence for this pair of decorative panel paintings is principally the high Baroque school of painting of the 2nd half of the 17th century in Rome, especially seen in the work of Abraham Brueghel, son of Jan Brueghel the Younger. The warm palette and soft brush strokes, together with the close observation of the many varied fruits and flowers, a typical trait of a Northern heritage, are here depicted with great sensitivity.
