This very finely turned dairy bowl has a beautiful patina. Dairy or 'whey' bowls were invaribly turned from sycamore on a pole lathe. Whey is the liquid remaining after milk has been curdled and strained, and a byproduct of the manufacture of cheese or casein. The process leaves sediments of casein on the surface of the bowls, and often over time produces a build up of fine white skin on the surface of the wood, very evident on this very attractive bowl.
Exceptional patination of good honey colour. No obvious issues.
