A Pole-Lathe Turned Pearwood Storage Jar and Cover, probably early 18th century. The cover and body with banded and reeded ornament, on a waisted stem and stepped circular foot. A comparable example was sold by Christie's in the Jonathan Levi 'Treen for the Table' Collection, 8 November 2006, lot 162. Posset (also spelled poshote, poshotte) was a hot drink made of milk curdled with wine or ale, often spiced, which was popular the late medeival period onwards and used as a cold and flu remedy.
Slight warping to the body resulting in the jar tilting slightly to one side. No other obvious issues.
